Tactical Shotgun
Course Description: This 1-day firearms training course focuses on tactical speed shooting and development of shotgun for personal protection and home defense.
Students will develop gun-handling skills that will enable them to quickly and efficiently engage threats.
Students have the option to use pump-action or semi-automatic shotguns in this course. Shotguns must be 12 gauge and have a side receiver ejection port / loading port.
***Lever-action and exposed hammer shotguns are not allowed!***
The following firearms training topics will be covered:
Student requirements: Eye protection, ear protection, baseball type cap, 12 gauge pump action or semi-automatic shotgun with rifle sights or ghost ring sights, shotgun shell pouch and tactical sling.
Recommended equipment: Shotgun shell pouch, sling swivels on front and rear of shotgun, rain gear, sunscreen, insect repellent, hydration system and water.
The sling must allow the shotgun to hang freely in front of the shooter.
Ammunition requirements: 150 birdshot, 50 rounds of buckshot, 20 rounds of slug and 50 rounds of handgun ammunition.
Class size maximum will be 15 students. Class fees are non-refundable and must be prepaid online prior to attending class. Refunds will not be issued for "no-shows". Refunds will NOT be issued for failure to follow registration directions or failure to use correct coupon code at time of payment.

- Use of the shotgun for home defense.
- Fundamentals of shooting the shotgun.
- Loading / unloading and press checking the shotgun.
- Review use of tactical sling systems.
- Presentation from low ready, high ready, indoor ready and SUL positions.
- Threat assessment and area scanning.
- Ammunition management and reloading techniques.
- Buckshot patterning and effective distances.
- Select slug techniques.
- Malfunction clearance drills.
- Multiple threat engagement.
- Fighting with the shotgun at CQB distance.
