Heartsaver First-Aid/CPR

The Heartsaver First Aid and CPR & AED for Adult, Child and Infant course is for those needing a certification for First Aid and CPR but are not professional rescuers.  The CPR & AED portion of the course helps students recognize and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies.  The First Aid portion gives individuals the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic first aid for medical emergencies, injury emergencies and sudden illness. Those who need just the Heartsaver CPR or just the First Aid, only have to attend the discipline required. 

Participants learn how to (CPR & AED):

  • Properly perform CPR
  • Recognize emergencies, strokes and heart attacks
  • Recognize and care for choking
  • Use of barrier devices
  • Help in preventing transmission or infection diseases
  • Introduction to the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs)
Participants learn how to (First Aid):
  • Check an unconscious victim
  • Recognize an emergency
  • Minimize the effects of shock
  • Use the EMS system/9-1-1
  • Treat sudden illnesses, including poisonings and heat and cold emergencies
  • Perform first aid for cuts, scrapes, bruises, burns, bleeding and injuries to bones, joints and muscles (such as sprains and strains)

Upon successful completion of this course, participants received a certification, valid for 2 years.


Please note:  This course is NOT appropriate for students who need certification in a healthcare-level CPR class.

Student will need note-taking materials.
